Dear Charles,
The single call came about from WG member requests ... and the time picked
had to do with the total number of people displaced, rather than where in
the world they are from, or whether they are "ASCII" or "Unicode" based.

I hear both your and Hong Xue's concerns - this was why I had picked a
paired meeting schedule to start with, because it provided some options.

The other alternative is to go to a 9am and 4pm alternating slot for the
calls, in which case we will make everyone on the call work to juggle their
calendars and time schedules. I don't think 9am is particularly wonderful
for those in Singapore/Seoul/China, by the way.

I will ask Glen to research more times, but the bane of a single call with
global membership is that some part of the world is always in trouble.

-Ram

PS: I have now attended 4 of the last 5 calls we have had at varied times of
day for me - I chaired one at 3am, another at midnight - so I am quite
sympathetic to the issues that arise.

Dear Colleagues:

Happy Valentine's day.
Sorry I could not participate yesterday. I have to send this note to
the group, if you check the part I attached from the timing you will
notice that the non-ASCII countries are the ones with the worst
timing, while the rest "ASCII" people not in the part I cut have the
better times! I think it should be the other way around since more
important to have the people from "Non-ASCII" countries.

Anyway for me I already informed my constituency that I might not be
able to be very active and to nominate other person(s) to help me
(after working from 8:00 am till 7:00 pm will not allow me to
concentrate good at 11:00 pm).

Best regards,

Charles Sha'ban
