Hi Mikey,

Thank you for your message.

Mike is taking a much-needed vacation. I promised him I would not call or
email him during the month of October, so I am not entirely sure how he is.
My hope, though, is that he is relaxing and staying away from his work

I appreciate you taking the time to address your concerns. Our team has
essentially been working at 3/5 or 4/5 capacity since February, and a few
pressing items moved to the top of the to-do list, e.g., 2013 RAA outreach
and 2013 RAA process implementation, at the expense of other work. That
being said, Tim (and co.) have interviewed several candidates for this staff
opening. Since I am unable to give you a definitive timeline of hiring
dates, I will propose this: I will take on the role of facilitating group
phone calls every other week (or every week, if needed) and begin the
process of drafting a work plan and coordinating what needs to get done in
the interim.

Marika has graciously offered to assist with subject matter expertise, as I
do not have the institutional and historical knowledge that Mike brought to
the table. I will do my best to keep up and do what needs to get done to
move this forward. I have attached a copy of Mike's proposed work plan for
this project. As you will see, this will need to be updated to account for
new timelines and staff assignments.

I look forward to working with the group on this project. I will send
around a Doodle Poll shortly so that we can find a phone conference time
that works for the majority of the team.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Kind regards,

hi all,

several questions.

first, is Mike OK? please pass along my hopes that all is well.

on the policy/implementation matter. as a member of all the working groups
you mentioned Caitlin, i'd like to add my voice to the chorus that is
calling for expediting this process. while ICANN spends millions
reinventing various social media under the banner of "Digital Engagement"
and ferrying Spectacular Resumes around to various strategic planning
groups, registrants and ISPs are seeing significant issues with the security
and stability of the DNS. the recommendations of these working groups are
not made just for fun -- they are aimed at improving the functioning of the
DNS for all.

so please provide something a bit more concrete in terms of a timeline. is
this person going to be hired in a week, a month, a quarter, a year? are
they going to be the project manager who oversees the implementation
projects that need to take place? who's responsible for getting this work
under way in the interim? where's the project charter and workplan that was
promised at that meeting sooo long ago? can we get in the habit of
providing weekly or biweekly updates to this group as to status? i agree
with James that the contracted parties have a lot on their plates -- but one
thing that would help them, along with the non-contracted parties, would be
some plans in place to give them some predictability as to when changes are

sorry to be such a grouch, but we really need to bear down and get some
focus on this stuff. soon.
