Hey Jeff:

Before posting, could you all correct a typo in the IPC statement that appears
twice in the document.  Specifically, in the penultimate line of the second
paragraph an "s" needs to be deleted from the word "reservations" so that the
last sentence reads as follows:

While we disagree with this position, we believe it is an acceptable compromise
to accede to the recommendation for a PDP so long as there is a temporary
reservation of the IOC/RC names on the second level pending the outcome of the
recommended PDP.

Thanks!

J. Scott

All,

This afternoon/evening, the recommendations document (attached) from the
Drafting team will be posted for public comment period.  In addition, in the
posting that has the document attached, you will find a “note from the Drafting
Team Chair” that states:

Note from the IOC/RCRC Drafting Team Chair:
These recommendations are being posted at the request of the Drafting Team.
Although some members of the Drafting Team believe that a PDP is not necessary
at this time to grant second level protections for the IOC/RCRC, a consensus of
the DT does in fact agree that a PDP represents an appropriate compromise on
this issue.  With respect to Recommendations #2 and #3, there is strong support
amongst the Drafting Team for those recommendations with opposition from the
Non-commercial Stakeholder Group and Thomas Rickert.  A copy of statements from
certain constituencies, stakeholder groups, and/or individuals is attached as
appendices to this statement.

Below is the Schedule for Comments:

Comment Open:  28 September 2012
Comment Close:  19 October 2012
Reply Open:  20 October 2012
Reply Close:  9 November 2012

I understand that the comment period closes during the ICANN meeting, and I
apologize for that, but there is a 21 day reply period as well.  I wanted to
make sure that both of the comment periods close well in time for the
mid-November GNSO Council meeting.

Thank you everyone for your hard work and there will be no calls or meetings of
the Drafting team until after Toronto.
