hi all, here's a new draft of my interpretation of Marika's drawing from the working paper -- now turned into a short story. it's several slides long and i'm attaching a Powerpoint version because it's smaller than the PDF version. here's a download link if you prefer PDF. http://www.haven2.com/PolicyImplementationV3.pdf what i'm trying to do with these slides is put that little list of charter questions i wrote into the context of the preliminary model that Margie and Marika presented in the working paper. i think the WG could; - gather a bunch of info, along the lines of what Chuck and Jordyn laid out and then - give Margie and Marika's model a really hard scrub to get the rough edges knocked off. my questions are basically breaking this second task up a little bit. i added one question at the end -- "Define any changes needed to existing policy-making and implementation processes that are needed to support this approach." i tend to agree with those that back away from needing to get too focused on the question "what is policy?" that can indeed become a huge undertaking. and i think maybe misses the point of what is needed. the PDP needs to produce clear criteria and process for people to be able to decide whether an action needs to be run through the policy process. i think Margie and Marika have done a great first draft at coming up with those, and that the WG could focus on researching lessons learned and using that research to refine it. mikey Attachment:
