Adobe Chat Transcript for 27th August 2013:

Nathalie Peregrine:Welcome to the Thick Whois WG Meeting of 27 August 2013

  Amr Elsadr:Just joined the call.

  Nathalie Peregrine:Welcome!

  Amr Elsadr:Good luck Mikey.

  Don:Good luck GNSO

  Amr Elsadr::)

  marie-laure lemineur:congratulation !

Nathalie Peregrine:Roy Balleste sends his apology for today's call

steve metalitz:This point was discussed several times before. Look forward
to seeing any specific suggestions for changes to the report on this.

  Volker Greimann:Apologies for being late

Nathalie Peregrine:Frederic Guillemaut has joined the call

Nathalie Peregrine:Avri Doria has joined the call

  Amr Elsadr:intercontinental hotels group

steve metalitz:Agree with the IHG comment but not sure it is in scope for us.

  Amr Elsadr:I'm pretty sure it isn't. :)

Volker Greimann:I agree with Steve in that this is wiothout our scope

Don:I don't see the relevance either.

Berry Cobb:It will be a PDP as a result of the negotiations

Tim Ruiz:Marc is correct, it is in the RAA...

steve metalitz:Agree with Tim re ending with "by the community."

Avri Doria:So it really needs to be multistakeholder lead

Avri Doria:But the registrants have the privacy liability

Tim Ruiz:"registrants have the privacy liability," absolutely agree.

Tim Ruiz:doesn't our comment that we just modified in 25 apply to this as
well, these issues need to be explored in more depth?

  Don:yes to Tim

steve metalitz:Re #26, what is Patrick asking us to include in the report?

Tim Ruiz:Besides, hasn't ICANN indemnified everyone involved? Oh, never mind
;-)

  Volker Greimann:you wish, Tim ;-)

Tim Ruiz:@Volker, yeah, I had it backwards.

Volker Greimann:actually, I do to, but wishes are like dreams

  Volker Greimann:too

  Volker Greimann:^_^

  Avri Doria: IIts

Don:Mikey, you just started echoing on my end.

Don:I don't think we need to add it. It will come from decisions concerning
how much data protection issues apply.

Don:It = evaluation of Safe Harbor

  steve metalitz:Agree with Tim's comments

  Amr Elsadr::)

  Volker Greimann:sec

Volker Greimann:I think the comments are valid concerns, however they should
not impact our conclusion and recommendations

Marc Anderson:yes, I agree they are vailid, but I feel as though we've
already addressed them in our report.

Don:To reinforce, a list is pointless because the landscape is changing and
much broader than just the European requirements.

Don:Pointless may be too strong but I think it's beyond the WG scope, the
focus has been too limitedm and any list may not be valid by the time tha the
issues are examined

Tim Ruiz:Just for the record, while my comment about ICANN idemnification
seemed flippant, it is a concern in regards to the data privacy issue and the
fact that registrants, registries, and registrars all fully idemnify ICANN in
various agreements should be a concern discussed in any subsequent work on the
privacy issue.

  Tim Ruiz:Thanks Mikey!

  Volker Greimann:agreed, tim

  Amr Elsadr:Thanks Mikey.

  Volker Greimann:Thanks mikey

  marie-laure lemineur:thanks
