Ross,
Would you mind explaining in more detail your objection to the process of
going through each 'agreed' to see if it is indeed an 'agreed'? I am having
difficulty understanding the comparison with 'guilt until innocence is
proven' and I expect others are too.
As we have just begun this final whittling process and have another couple
of weeks of it to go before the report will be concluded, what is your
suggestion for a working method you can agree with?
What is the status of the helpful and detailed comments you made to the list
last week, which Philip is incorporating into the next draft of the report?
Does this constitute part of the 'flawed process', or should these comments
still be considered?
You will appreciate that in the final weeks of this working group, everyone
is working extremely hard to craft a report that has the support of the
whole working group. It may be more constructive to focus on addressing any
flaws in process now, rather than dissociating yourself from an as yet
undetermined outcome.
Maria

I didn't want to bog the call down with a discussion of the process we are
using to draft this report, however I want to enter an objection for the
record.
I specifically disagree with the approach that Philip has chosen to take to
gauge agreement/support/etc. of the various propositions in that the working
group is being asked to prove in the negative, the relative merit of each
proposition. This is akin to claiming guilt until innocence is proven.
Based on this objection, I can in no way support the contents of the report,
or any findings of the report that are put forward as a result of this
flawed process. This will be reflected in my recommendations to my
constituency concerning how the registrar community should react to this
document.
