<< Comment on the "Preliminary task force report on a policy recommendation and advice on a procedure for handling conflicts between a registrar/registry's legal obligations under privacy law and their contractual obligations to ICANN," (dated September 13, 2005.) The recommendations contained in this report are to be applauded. It is right and important that ICANN take steps to protect privacy. However, the proposals would be better if they were stronger. Ultimately, ICANN should not incorporate privacy law by exception but as a matter of right and principle.
