Hi there
Section 4.1.3 deals with self resolution of domain names. It states that
1 of the applicants cannot choose an alternative name to avoid the
contention. Why not ? this is crazy, we want as many gTLD's to broaden
the internet and we are telling an applicant who has paid USD 185,000 to
just get lost
Section 4.3 deals with an auction to resolve contention. Is this to
maximise the revenue of ICANN ? This seems to go against the
foundational principles to promote competition in the domain-name
marketplace while ensuring Internet security and stability. Surely the
parties should firstly be given the option of accepting an alternative
name? If this is not agreed then by all means, have an auction.
