Dear members of ICANN,
I support Option #3 of the March 26,
2010 process options submitted by ICANN
for public comment.
ICANN should vote to adopt the
dissenting opinion of the Panel's
Declaration on the basis that the Board
thinks that the Panel's majority
opinion was wrong and that the Board's
conduct was consistent with ICANN's
Bylaws and Articles of Incorporation.
There is nothing to be gained in
approving the .xxx domain, except to
announe to the world that the internet--
originally a source for data sharing
and collaboration in developing things--
would become an explict channel for the
delivery of pornography, which,
despite "civil libertarian" claims to
the contrary, has been shown to be a
destructive force for society across
the globe.
The moral fabric of society is under
great challenge right now.
Legitimizing pornography serves no
purpose but to hasten the disruption
and destruction of civilized behavior.
There is no reason to approve a .xxx
domain.
Sincerely,
Richard Virgilio
