CNNIC Comments on Draft Proposal for the Study of Issues Related to the Delegation of IDN Variant TLDs
Dear Variant Issue Project,CNNIC appreciates ICANN's great efforts on solving the Variant Issues for new generic Top Level Domain, and supports the framework for this project, except the timetable of issue report in December. With regard to Chinese variants, the work is almost finished, and it's not necessary to have a unique timetable for all variant issue, "First ready, first server" should be an acceptable rule. The experts from CDNC are working together with experts from JP and KR on this issue for over ten years, and published RFC3743 and RFC4713 in IETF to solve this issue. RFC3743 is authored by experts from CJK area, and RFC4713 is for Chinese domain name and accepted by CDNC members. The solution is approved successful for past years, and also after delegation of ".??/.??", ".??/.??", ".??" and ".???". The experiences and expertise will be shared with ICANN upon request. Please refer to attachment for further information, which has been submitted to ICANN in last December.
