Given that in both North America and Europe the summer months, especially in late summer right before school starts, are popular vacation periods, many people have not learned about the new proposed registry agreements until very recently.

The fact that the bulk of public comment has been within the last few days is further evidence of this.

With a deadline for comments on this forthcoming Monday, it is a rather short period for many people to thoughtfully read and comment on the changes.

Given that fact, plus the fact that these proposed changes, if approved, will affect a great many domain owners, including small businesses and non-profit organizations alike, the public comment period ought to be extended by at least another 30 days.

Since the existing contracts for the .BIZ, .INFO, and .ORG registries do not run out anytime soon, there is little reason to rush these new agreements and not allow the public an extended period in which to comment.

Best regards,

Dan C. Rinnert
