Dear ICANN Board Members!

Registries should not be given the right by ICANN to charge different prices
for different domain names or have the ability to auction off domains.
Imagine your home or business phone number going out to bid every year
because the telephone company can auction it off annually or rent it to the
highest bidder. Imagine your business website being sold to a competitor.
Imagine your .org domain going to a corporation that does not like the work
you do just because they can pay more for the domain that you can.

Good domain names will be bought up by all the large companies under the new
proposal. Imagine leasing a building for 1 year. You make the business
successful and then the landlord sells (or leases) the property from
underneath you. There would be no motivation for building out websites under
the variable pricing or auction schemes. The current proposal will have a
negative affect on capital wanting to developed websites in fear of having
their investments taken away each year.

Allowing registries to get into the auction business will be the first step
in destroying the Internet and letting the large companies buy all the prime
virtual property so I urge you to not to follow that path. Registries should
live with the original agreements they made to provide the services they
agreed to in order to obtain the franchise. Why change the rules in the
middle of the game?

I hope you keep the playing field level for all!
