ICANN seem to be out of touch with commercial reality if they think the
registries will not go for revenue maximisation when presented with a new
exploitable monopololy over the underlying registrant domain name pricing as
these proposed contracts offer them.
Combined with presumptive contract renewal, this creates the kind of scenario
that could kill off innovation and trust.
This has been fleshed out in lucid detail by many others here already and
certainly warrants an extended public consultation period and a slowing down of
the rush to implement these contracts at the very least.
