Ladies and Gentlemen,
The following comments are my opinion only and do not necessarily reflect any
organization I work for.
I was surprised and wondered why the International Olympic Committee and the
Red Cross, in section: 2.2.1.2.3, should receive a special protection in the
initial round.
One can argue that the Red Cross is a big humanitarian organization and should
be considered for that reason, but in what way is the International Olympic
Committee special?
They are just a normal organization that has trademarks, copyrights etc. and
does not need special protection as they do enforce their rights already in
every way possible.
Why just these two? There are more that deserve the same rights and if you
start to grant two these rights, than you need to grant them others too.
You can not draw a line and say these two only. This will be discriminating
towards others and would of violate the "all equal" status for the new gTLD
program. Thus loosing faith in what ICANN would stand for and should stand for.
So regardless of any powerful stakeholder or group, the ICANN Board should
seriously consider to throw this overboard and reject it.
The sentence is and should remain: " All are equal"
kind regards,
