The "fix" is in!!!

Once again, heavily financed lobbyists for trade groups attempt to rig the
game by heavy-handedly attempting to introduce new, utterly one-sided,
cost-prohibitive to defend, rules for basically stealing intellectual
property.

Does anyone at ICANN get the irony of these so-called trademark groups
writing rules that allow them to essentially reverse-hijack generic terms
without consequence (or, to put it a little more succinctly giving the
trademark groups a license to steal)?

Clearly not.

Over the last several years the UDRP has consistently been abused by an
endless stream of so-called trademark holders who have attempted to steal or
otherwise appropriate completely generic terms and/or acronyms.

And guess what?

These groups tend to win by lop-sided margins even for generic terms that
have little, if anything to do their marks. When they win, they get the
domain names, and when they lose they are virtually never penalized for
bringing these utterly meritless actions.

Reverse-hijacking anyone?

Perish the thought.

Leave it to the geniuses at ICANN to fix what ain't broken. And when I say
"fix" that's in the sense of a horse race, not a repair.
