Draft Final Report on Single Char IDN TLD [RE: [jig] REMINDER / JIG WG - 09 November 2010 @ 1200 UTC]
Hi Everyone,
A gentle reminder for our scheduled meeting in about 3 hrs time.
Also, please find attached a first draft of a Final Report on the issue of
Single Character IDN TLDs for consideration.
The document is organized generally as follows:
1. Introduction & Background -- Similar to Initial Report
2. JIG Implementation Recommendations on Single Character IDN TLDs -- 4 main
points of recommendations:
A. Implement GNSO policy recommendations on the subject
B. Definition of single character (as an “extended grapheme
cluster” from section 3 of Unicode Standard Annex #29)
C. Non-alphabetic Single Character IDN TLDs should be generally
acceptable, alphabetic script Single Character IDN TLDs may require further
qualifications to avoid confusion with single character ASCII strings
D. Emphasising that other restrictions/requirements, such as
geographical names, string similarity, etc. apply to Single Character IDN
TLD strings.
3. Suggested Edits to New gTLD Applicant Guidebook -- providing suggested
texts for the DAG
4. Policy Aspects of Single Character IDN TLDs -- Same as Initial Report
5. Summary & Responses on Public Comments (for Initial Report) -- responses
from the JIG to the public comments
