Re: .BIZ, .INFO, .ORG Agreement Re-Negotiations
1) What benefit to the Internet community is afforded by the inclusion of
variable/tiered per-domain pricing options?
2) What safeguards are applied to the variable/tiered per-domain pricing
options to keep .BIZ, .INFO and .ORG from going the way of .TV, i.e. $1,000,000
registration fees for "valuable" domain names?
Would someone from ICANN please make definitive statements regarding these
issues before voting to approve or disapprove the new agreements? There has
been substantial discussion of these issues around the world without the
benefit of a definitive statement from ICANN, increasing the perception that
ICANN is developing and adopting agreements "from the middle up" instead of
"from the bottom up", that may lead to increasing dissatisfaction with and
resistance to ICANN's stewardship of the DNS.
