Dear NPOC members,
See below a link to today´s report by Kevin Murphy at Domainicite.com on
today´s decision by the GNSO Council to defeat (for now) the motion to
temporarily protect the words "Olympic", "Red Cross" and "Red Crescent" in
various languages in all newly approved gTLDs. The protections would be at the
second level, in addition to the top-level blocks already in place.
It is likely that the GNSO Council will revisit the issue on the December 20
meeting.

ICANN's GNSO Council voted against providing special brand protection to the
Olympics and Red Cross today, in a shock vote that swung on a trademark
lawyer's conflict of interest.
