Proposed BIZ, .INFO, and .ORG gTLD Registry Agreements
With regard to the proposed BIZ, .INFO, and .ORG gTLD Registry Agreements .. One cannot help but be suspicious of the motives of the ICANN in wishing to change the current contracts before their due renewal dates ..and exremely suspicious of the manner in which the so called "public commentary period' has been allocated to a time of year when most of the western , english speaking world is on holiday ..this would appear to be an attempt to make changes with potentially massive benefits for certain parties ( registrys) at the expense of domain name registrants ..and this done in a apparent cynical sham of asking for "public commentary" when no -one is around to hear about it .. What has the ICANN to hide ? Well maybe the fact that these changes would allow the possibilty of facing unlimited ( could be millions of dollars per name per year ) domain name renewal charges on existing .biz or .org or .info domain names .. And where would those potential millions of dollars in extorted ( "pay up or lose your domain name" ) go ? .....Who are the ICANN's friends .....who are the members leaving soon ..why the apparent unseemly haste to get these changes through ?..and why so quietly ..? This smells of at best naïvety in the hope that registries wont increase pricing ..and if the ICANN board has members that are so naïve ..they are not fit to be there .. at worst it maybe smells of attempting to facilitate the piracy and extortion of domain names .. If this is allowed to happen the ICANN will be veiwed by the worlds webmasters as either stupid or corrupt or both ...for now the timing certainly seems to smell like something devious is rotting in a dark corner of the internet , trying to hide from the light of day whilst it plots with it's friends ..on how to gather the maximum information and money for themselves ..from the work of others on their domains .. This.. apparent furtive step in trying to steal the internet ..must be exposed to the light .. it must not be allowed to succeed .. Mike ( Leosghost ) |
