As the owner of numerous websites, I am completely against variable pricing
for .org domains. As prices climb, smaller companies and personal sites
will be pushed out of their domains, and only the Microsofts or Googles of
the world will be able to afford it. It is the neutrality of the internet
that makes it so appealing to people- my small personal site is equal to a
major companies site. With variable pricing, real websites will be replaced
by pages of ads. The only possible outcome is that the current internet
protocols will be replaced by a new system, until that system exchanges its
values for money much like what we see happening with ICANN.
