Registry price adjustments "per domain"?
Hello, I am currently using several domain names with the .org extension and I have been informed that the .org registry and other registeries for .info and .biz may be able to "adujst" the individual prices for certain domains when they come up for renewal or even at the registration phase. This will enable registries themselves to infringe and steal the value of domains that have been built up and promoted for years, and even to control domains for future products and services relevant to businesses and hold the keyword domains hostage. Registries should not be in the business of controlling and selling domains from the "ethereal source" -- in other words, they shouldn't be able to "select" those domains that they deem to have a valuable resell value and then "set prices accordingly" for the open market. The domain industry has branched out successfully in the open market to certain factions that participate in the registering, monetizing, reselling and buying of domains. Each faction or company involved has adjusted to the market accordingly as to the fairness of the domain provisioning process. The "source" of the domain, though, which would be the registry, cannot infringe on the business of the vertical factions and domain industry segments by interferring or setting "prices" for domains that they don't own, and it shouldn't own. The obvious reasons -- the market doesn't like monopolies, and either does capitalism nor the laws of commerce. NO to individual price-setting of any domains by the registries. There should be a uniform price for every domain within every extension. thank you Stephen Douglas |
