I oppose variable pricing. This market shows classic lock-in -- in
particular, due to exceptionally high switching costs. The proposed
protections are far from adequate to guard against exploitation by
registries. Variable pricing is therefore a poor policy choice, likely to
lead to dramatic price increases, kept in check only by the threat of
further policy intervention if registries' exploitation caused too much
uproar.
