Marilyn,

I view "traffic data" as a subset of "non-personal data." Can you
please explain why businesses are concerned about this data and what the
basis of those concerns are. I have yet to hear that articulated.

Also, what is the problem we are trying to solve? I do not believe that
has ever been addressed.

We have existing work of course from the Rap group into the TF. So we
are now tryiing to augment previous discussions. Jeff has offered one
perspective/contriution, but we sld hear additional ideas.

For instance the only categories are not personal and personal. A
category is traffic data, which was the original issue of discussion,
and somehow morphed into the ToR into "registry data"m Th BC expressed
concern abt traffic data, and what it is used for. It may or may not be
personal. Is traffic data inclusive of null resolutions? Shld this be
gathered? Why? Who should have access? Is traffic data that show
indications of threats to the Internet and the DNS truly limited to only
registries of their servers/services, or are there instances of threats
that wld have implications for the Backbone operators-- those who
actually build and operate the Internet's infractructure and move and
transport packets? Not to deny the role of registries, but the Internet
has other critical parties affected by security threats to the DNS and
Internet.

What part of traffic data is relevant to the role played by other
parties?

Should traffic data related to null resolutions be gathered? Why? If
gathered is the data relevant to any other party, and if so why? Is it
relavant to the role and functions of registry? If so, how? Are there
any limitations since registries are prohibited from actiing as
registrars?

But of course, siome of these discussions had begun in Rapp group who
rec. Additional exploration.

See you shortly!
Regards,
Marilyn Cade
