Dear Peter,
I am profoundly saddened to learn of the tragedies you suffered this past
June. I only learned of it yesterday. As I will be coming to New Zealand
for the Cyberlaw Fellowship in January, I am keenly aware that one of the
few negative implications of my accepting the Fellowship is that I will be
apart from my father (80) most of that time. With each passing day leading
to our departure, I wonder how much time I have left with him, and I hope
and pray that my time in New Zealand does not rob us of anything with
respect to him, my wife's parents, etc. But you cannot go through life
worrying about things like that, I know.
I cannot imagine your anguish, and I hope that the prayers and support of
your family and friends has sustained you and given you hope. Please
accept my sincerest condolences, and know that you're in my thoughts and
prayers. I look forward to meeting and working with you in January. Until
then, take care.
Phil
