To Whom It May Concern,
I am writting to you in total disapproval of the decision between ICANN and
Verisign. Clearly you are scraching each other's back and as far as I can see
this is a monoploy behind the doors in which the public is going to have to pay
for. This is unacceptable and looks unlawful. Below are a list of suggestions
and expectation that I have as a Internet consumer.
The proposed .com renewal contract should be reworked to reflect the Internet
communityâs concerns. The gTLD namespaces are a public trust; no registry
operator, including VeriSign, should be given indefinite control over them,
especially one as important as .com. This is a monopoly and I will make sure
people understand this.VeriSignâs unilateral price increases that are not
cost-based and not subject to approval should not be allowed. All ICANN fees
should continue to be approved by the Internet community. Internet users should
not have to pay an unreasonable âICANN Taxâ or pay more for domain names
just to increase VeriSignâs profits. With the recent investigations into
coroprate issues I don't feel that this instills trust in the public.
I hope you hear this and don't just blow it off. This is your consumer speaking.
