<div>The current settlement leaves a raw deal for consumers. I would hope
the settlement would be amended to reduce the harmful affects upon
consumers such as the increase in the yearly registration rate. The
increase in the registration rate should be carefully analyzed and not
raised more than to keep with inflation. Also, ICANN should allow other
bids for the .com registry after the contract with Verisign expires.
Competitive bids would do more to ensure the contract was more
well-rounded and fair to consumers. </div>
