Dear ICANN Secretary:

This Board Communication is sent at the request of Chuck Gomes, Cheryl
Langdon-Orr and Heather Dryden,  on behalf of the the Recommendation 6
Community Working Group (Rec 6 CWG).

The Rec 6 CWG has been working on an expedited basis to deliver a report to
the Board in time for the Board¹s September retreat.  The Rec 6 CWG is aware
of today¹s deadline for submission of materials for consideration  at the
Board retreat.  Despite numerous hours of telephone conference calls and
hundreds of emails over the last few weeks,  the CWG is unable to submit its
report today.  However, the WG¹s hard work to-date has been productive and
has yielded consensus on a number of key points,  and the group expects to
issue a report over the next few days.  This WG status report will inform
the Board  on the issues and recommendations related to Recommendation 6.

We kindly request that, when delivered,  the CWG Report be included in the
materials for the Board¹s consideration at the retreat.
