Hi Stephane,
Just to confirm, my support of Oliver's point was not a criticism of staff so
I'm happy to hear it wasn't taken that way. Staff support has been tremendous
for this initiative and I, as I'm sure the rest of the JAS WG members do,
appreciate their hard work. Thank you ICANN Staff!!
I still feel it is a shame the webinar won't be translated as there are
non-English speaking members of the community who are particularly interested
in this topic but it is, what it is. However, Rafik's suggested work-around of
holding additional webinars in other languages is a good one. It is my hope
that we are able to facilitate his suggestion.

FWIW, although I understand Olivier's point, I think it's important to point
out that Staff has worked very hard on both supporting the JAS group in general
and on organizing this seminar in particular.
This Staff support is really the ICANN community as a whole showing support for
the work being done here.
Also, my understanding is that the seminar is aimed at explaining the final
report to those community members that make up the JAS WG's chartering
organizations.
So even though yes, in an ideal world, it would be better to have a
multi-lingual webinar, it may have been too complex or expensive to organize
this on relatively short notice, for a webinar that is targeted at a
well-defined audience (this is an assumption on my part, Staff may wish to
correct that assumption if this was in fact not the case).
Just pointing this out because I think we should make sure that comments such
as these are not interpreted as criticism of Staff and the way the ICANN
Community in general has considered the topic of applicant support, because I
know that's not how they were meant.
Thanks,
Stéphane

The webinar will take place on September 19th at 12.00 UTC and 22.00 UTC The
two sessions are duplicates, scheduled to accommodate different time zones. The
recording will be made available shortly after Sept 19 for the community
members that are not able to attend any of the scheduled times. Each session,
scheduled to run for 90 minutes, will be conducted in English only. The meeting
will be run in Adobe Connect with a slide presentation along with a dial-in
conference bridge for audio.
May I just note my personal disappointment that no interpretation will be
available on this call.
The JAS report is being translated to Spanish and French. It is a *core*
constituent ICANN's future new gTLD application programme. The support
programme will benefit applicants in Spanish and English speaking countries,
yet the webinar will only be held in English? Please consider interpretation.
Kind regards,
Olivier
