Dear all:
29 to 31 remote participants during the session, including Rafik Dammak.
1. Joly MacFie: Q: Will eligible applicants include those looking for
IDN's and variants?
2. Faisal Hasan: I have a question...its about the new gTLD
communications and outreach program...is there any plan to organize sessions to
promote and inform the application rules to business communities at developing
countries... Is there any way ISOC Chapters can help in this program?
3. Sivasubramanian M (from ISOC India Chennai): In the new gTLD
application process, ICANN does not recognize the existence of an earlier
application form for a new string, so it is possible for more than one
applicant for any original string that an applicant applies for. In this
framework, it is possible that there may be cases where the chances of a weak
applicant is jeopardized by a powerful actor who discovers the value of the
string proposed by the first applicant and makes a second applicant . Did JAS
group look into this problem? Could there be any method or convention by which
the JAS could support the smaller or Start-Up applicants from being run over?
We answered the first 2, but not the third question from Sivasubramanian, cc on
this message. He has been encouraged to participate in the public comment.
Excellent work today!!!!
Thank you,
Karla Valente
