Hi Bob, thanks for the comments. The slides are really a team effort by the
supporting staff (julie, dave and myself).

We will update the slides from the comments received (jeremy, Avari, and you)
and send out a revised version.

Warmly,
Steve

Hi IRD-WHOIS team,

Thanks Steve for this excellent work -- It will help clarify what we are
proposing and the state of our discussions.

My suggestions re. the slide deck:

 1. Cover the "state of the inquiry" in the first or second slide -- something
like; Started in February 2010, eight bi-weekly meetings held to scope the
problem, this slide deck covers current WIP, expect completion of report to
GNSO in Nov. 2010 - Then remove the "possible approach for" from the title
of slides 11-24
 2.
 3. Cover WHOIS port 43 compatibility in a separate slide[24] [not a as
"model" under slide 17]:
 4. - Complete compatibility with existing port 43 request and response in
ASCII only [NOT POSSIBLE]
 5. - Enhanced port 43 request allowing domain names in U-label form or
A-label form [current proposal]
 6. - Enhanced port 43 request allowing domain names in U-label form or
A-label form plus requested script code
 7. - Enhanced port 43 response allowing ASCII and UTF-8 [current
proposal]
 8.     - Shift to another port - replacing port 43 - {discussion}
 9.     - Shift to web-based port 80  HTML5 {discussion}
 10.
 11. To increase the readability of the slides with WHOIS example responses,
please drop a semi-transparent-box on top of the area of the WHOIS response
that the slide covers. see my attached example. in a large room the text of
the WHOIS examples will small in projection - therefore also stretch the WHOIS
examples to be as large as possible.

Looking forward to a fun meeting in Brussels.

Dear IRD-WG members,

At our meeting on Monday, 07 June, we discussed some draft slides of a
preliminary approach for a presentation at the public session at the ICANN
meeting in Brussels on Thursday, 24 June, from 9:30 to 11:00 local time.
Jeremy Hitchcock agreed to give the presentation. For details on the session
see: http://brussels38.icann.org/node/12512. We have incorporated the suggested
revisions in the attached draft slides for your review and comment. Also below
are the brief meeting notes, which are posted to the wiki at:
https://st.icann.org/int-reg-data-wg/index.cgi?internationalized_registration_data_working_group.

ACTIONS FOR WORKING GROUP MEMBERS:

1. Please provide your comments on the list as soon as possible concerning the
attached draft slides. We will need to produce a final version for posting to
the ICANN meetings schedule by next Tuesday, 15 June to ensure that they are
available for the community to access prior to the beginning of the ICANN
meeting.

2. Please let us know if you would be available for a meeting next Monday, 14
June, to discuss the final version of the slides at 1400 UTC, 07:00 PDT, 10:00

Done. See attached slides.

Brief Notes: The WG members discussed a very rough draft of slides for a

suggested by Jim Galvin, along with other changes. Steve Sheng and Julie
Hedlund noted suggested changes and agreed to draft a revised set of slides.
Jeremy Hitchcock agreed to give the presentation in Brussels.
