Dear ICANN,
This .mail domain with a pre-check for forged headers is the first good news
I've heard from you.
Why this wasn't the going standard from your inception is I believe evidence
that as an organisation
you have been "asleep at the wheel" since your inception.
While various groups are now challenging your authority, (i.e.Verisign) , it is
about time that you do something
to keep the internet something more than a battlefield of con artists
attempting to separate the average person
from their capital.
I have been totally frustrated over the years that you have not actively
pursued your mandate, but instead
have totally avoided your responsibilities by requiring absolutely NO
VERIFICATION that usage of IP addresses
were verifiable within a domain name database, that you allowed unassigned
addresses to be allocated was
a complete failure, perhaps an investigatible one.
Four core functions
a.. Domain Name System (DNS)
b.. Allocation of IP addresses
c.. Management of the root server system
d.. Coordinating protocol number assignment
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Although I believe, the responsibility for the "Wild West" mentality of
internet traffic is yours,
I do not feel you should be precluded from cleaning up your mess. Therefore, in
the interests of not charging individual consummers
a fee to receive mail cleaned up of what is now ILLEGAL traffic under the
CANSPAM Act, I support your promotion of the .mail domain.
Sincerely,
Denis DellaLoggia
