Dear ICANN,
The .mobi venture is not interested in the registry business for two reasons:
1. they intend to outsource the registry operations to an existing operator, which is
surprising, given Nokia, Microsoft and the .Mobi JV accociates' prowess in the
technical development and operations arena.
2. their registration forecasts for the .mobi are so low that one wonders why a .mobi
top level domain is necessary at all.
There must be a hidden agenda behind this application. One can deduct that:
1. Microsoft and Nokia want to control and dominate the mobile internet through
embedded software in their operating systems, and
2. Vodafone and the operators want to garden-fence their customer base because they are
afraid of voice over IP operators.
ICANN - by issuing this .mobi sTLD, you may be responsible for allowing these big
groups to behave in a very anti-competative way.
Their track record in this respect is appalling.
