Aaron D. Sanders's Interesting Comments System Makes his MessagesHard to Read
Maybe ICANN's comments system has a few bugs and glitches, but the guy whose message got mangled by it has a few format problems himself. For one thing, he ends his messages with a long line of dashes, which (when his messages *aren't* mangled by ICANN) cause the pages on which they're displayed to stretch out way to the right, making them very hard to read. He's also sending his messages pointlessly in HTML format (when plain text would suit them fine, as he doesn't make any attempt to specially format them; Keep It Simple, Stupid is a good policy), and using Quoted-Printable encoding (that's what put those funky equal signs in). It's best to send messages in plain text with RFC-compliant lines of under 80 characters; this works more compatibly with the wide variety of mail readers and Web archives. See the Mail Format Site linked in my sig below for more on e-mail formatting. -- == Dan == Dan's Mail Format Site: http://mailformat.dan.info/ Dan's Web Tips: http://webtips.dan.info/ Dan's Domain Site: http://domains.dan.info/ |
