To Whom It May Concern:
I received Assistant Secretary Kneuer's e-mail for those of us concern about
the xxx domain. I understand that the intention is to provide
pornographer's with their own domain so that families and children can avoid
running into offensive sites in the .com domain. I commend the intention.
However, my concern is that this will not reduce the ill effects of
pornography, but increase them. I truly believe that pornographers will
happily use the xxx domain as their own, not instead of, but rather in
addition to the .com domain. I do not believe for a second that
pornographers will stick only to the xxx domain. They are business people
and their chief desire is to make money. Therefore all this domain will
create is more pornography on the internet. In my opinion these people have
no morals, and at the very least they certainly do not share the morals of
families who are trying to protect their children from this filth.
Please do not allow these horribly misguided individuals more reign over the
internet. Do not make it more difficult for parents to shield their
children from these powerful and despicable images.
Thank you for your time and for your expressed interest in my opinion as
described in your e-mail sent to me today.
Sincerely,
Lindsay Ilyes
