Nix on *.xxx

Sir or Madam:

I agree with all those opposed to the creation of a *.xxx sponsored TLD (sTLD). Specifically, I agree with Hog Entertainment that a *.kids sTLD, a safe online haven for children and parents, makes more sense. Here are my own thoughts:

As a university student in the late 1980s, I was enrolled in a figure drawing class whose nude models comprised a woman and two men. They did not model together, of course. Still, I refuse to accept a TLD that could possibly place non-sexual nude art into the same category as pornography, simply because of the nudity.

I also am active in anti-tobacco campaigns. Tobacco and pornography have several things in common:

* Some children get hold of both, despite being too young for them.
* Both are produced by criminal outfits that lie to adult consumers
   about their addictive potential.
* Just as tobacco leads to lung cancer, pornography can lead to
    sexually transmitted diseases.

If ICANN is still accepting comments on this matter, I ask you to abandon this foolish notion of *.xxx and develop something like *.kids instead.
