In Opposition To .XXX

I am opposed to the .XXX domain because there is a great deal of false
information surrounding it. In the end it appears that it's only purpose is to
line the pockets of ICM registry.

Most respectable members of the adult entertainment community already follow
the best practices outlined by ICM. Those in the business that don't adhere to
such practices will continue to send bulk spam and spoof customers in the .COM
world. This will only punish those that already run respectable businesses,
give a false sense of security to parents and IT staff but it will provide ICM
with massive profits.

Here's my concern with each of the best practices listed by ICM.

Safeguard children from being marketed or targeted online
No respectable member of the adult community is currently doing this. .XXX
will allow the more shading of business owners to continue to target children
using other top level domains such as .COM

Defend customer privacy
This already occurs in normal business practices.

Use and promote accurate labeling and meta-tagging
Most adult webmasters already using ASACP meta tags to aid filtering software.
Predators will continue to not use meta tags on their .COM domains. Why would
meta tags even be needed on a .XXX domain?

Ensure clear and accurate disclosures, security of transactions and contact
information
This is already required in order to get credit card processing. No financial
transactions can take place with it.

Protect intellectual property rights
I don't see how moving legitimate business owners to .XXX will change the way
people steal intellectual property on .COM.

Combat the use of unlawful malicious codes and technologies (e.g., spoofing)
Again, the adult webmasters that are respectable already do this. The shading
ones will continue to stay in the .COM area.

Oppose fraudulent, anonymous and unsolicited bulk SPAM advertising adult
entertainment
If the SPAM continues to come from .COM email addresses then how will this help?

In the end, shouldn't we so what is best for the on-line community and not what
is best for a few rich investors?
