As a webmaster with over 50 but under 100 domains, while I appreciate the
top level registrars desire to squeeze more money from people, and while
at the inception of the net I would have supported .xxx. At this point in
the game, I cannot support it. I agree with many of my peers that believe
that it would add an undue burden on us to proactively have to register
our tradenames to protect them from squatters. (sure we could take them
to arbitration but that's bears and even greater cost to us).
Additionally, I do believe that some municipalities and governments may
try to use it as an avenue to force adult web sites to register and do
business through .xxx domain names. Many of us (myself included) have
spent years building traffic to our existing websites. I have something
on the order of 86,000 images watermarked with my domains. Not only would
it be cost prohibite to have to re-do those - but there is no way to
re-watermak the material that is already in the hands of preveious
consumers / surfers.
