[alac] MOTION: authorization of chair to formally raise issue for policy development
- To: alac@xxxxxxxxx
- Subject: [alac] MOTION: authorization of chair to formally raise issue for policy development
- From: Thomas Roessler <roessler@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
- Date: Thu, 23 Oct 2003 15:32:46 +0100
DEADLINE: now + 24 hours
As discussed on today's telephone conference, I hereby propose that
the committee's chair be authorized to raise the data collected at
the time of registration and displayed in the WHOIS service as an
issue for GNSO policy development according to Appendix A, section 1
(c) of the bylaws.
As noted on the call, the GNSO's whois steering committee has
developed terms of reference for a task force that would review
these data elements. If all goes well, a task force that operates
according to these terms of reference will be adopted by the GNSO
council at its Carthage session. In this case, our request would be
satisfied.
Archives of the whois steering committee's work are available at
<http://gnso.icann.org/mailing-lists/archives/whois-sc/>.
The three sets of terms of reference that have been produced by the
whois steering committee are available from the following URLs:
1. http://gnso.icann.org/mailing-lists/archives/council/msg00230.html
(Access for marketing purposes.)
2. http://gnso.icann.org/mailing-lists/archives/council/msg00238.html
(Data collection and display.)
3. http://gnso.icann.org/mailing-lists/archives/council/msg00237.html
(Accuracy.)
(The issue we would be raising is the topic of "Task Force 2".)
ALAC members present on the conference call agreed that the
committee should move forward with this on a "no objections" basis;
so if there are no objections within the next 24 hours, the
authorization will be considered granted.
I should probably add that no objections against this were raised on
the conference call.
