Subject: Why no .SAT domain names for satellite services ?

It is very surprising that hosts that represent satellite services do not have a coordinated .SAT domain name, independently of countries or terrestrial commercial/governmental organisations.

Such a hierarchy would be independent of organisations because many groups share most interests on the same satellite service.

This would include for example:

na.inmar.sat: INMARSAT service for North Atlantic Ocean
sa.inmar.sat: that for South Atlantic Ocean
io.inmar.sat: that for Indian Ocean
np.inmar.sat: that for North Pacific Ocean
sp.inmar.sat: that for South Pacific Ocean
intel.sat: Intelsat
hotbird.sat: Hot Bird satellites
etc...

But would exclude commercial products sold on earth, such as Canal-Satellite, which is a TV service, using the space services and bandwidth sold by a satellite company. I think that such a domain could be coordinated by the ITU committee in charge of world frequencies, with which each satellite service has contracted an agreement.
