New.net's sister company dotTV
and its parent company paid ICANN's exhorbitant fee only to be ingnored. Icann's
contention that their is either no demand for such extenions, or the applicant does
not have the financial means and technical ability to properly register these domains
is ludicrous. With so many interests involved with the domain registration process
a consensus approach is impossible. If one were to consider ICANN's
dot biz agreements, he or she would would arrive at the inescapable conclusion that
a system that excludes ICANN in its present state is best. With .biz the best names
were reserved for the registry and generic trade mark holders. The remainder are
to be auctioned off via a lottery/probabilty system to the highest bidder.
New.net is making a noble attempt to eliminate crowding and create a just
registry that provides equal oppurtinuty to all.
