I don't see why neulevel's, aka. Melbourne ITs, claim is greater. The only reason ICANN selected them was because of their bias towards large corporations. ICANN's decisions were made unfairly. ICANN's exhorbitant application fees prevented the operators of small registries from competing on merit. What opponents of ICANN are really complaining about is the selection process, not the fact that ICANN is officially sactioning TLDs.
