You are right, a bad workman should not blame his tools, it's no good taking a hammer
to a spanner coz it can't saw wood, ICANN can't suddenly change the face of the internet
because they made a mistake about not introducing enough TLDs to go around in the
first place. The registrants in DotNet and DotOrg have every right to use the
domains they have purchased. The reason they want to change it now is that
they have plans to introduce more TLDs so that you will have to pay out again to
secure a name that fits your activities. You can add my URL to your protest list
