The .reg is to solve "consumer confussion", "infringement" and the protection of
trademarks on the Internet problem. They can still use other TLD for marketing. e.g.
Nissan Cars tried to take nissan.com from Mr Nissan. They could use nissan.biz
or even nissan.car for marketing. The consumer is redirected to nissan.car.us.reg,
and so knows it is the car people. No "consumer confussion" or "infringement". They
do not have to persue every mention of their name - no big deal for them, but moreso
for small business trademark with word 'toy' in mark. If all trademarks cannot
use their mark on the Internet, in equal standing (same TLD) – then trademark use
on the Internet is an obvious lie. For to use it as such, gives it dominance over
others - which is against unfair competition law - ask any trademark attorney.
