Afilias: Is it ego or fear? |

ICANN should not forget its
oft-repeated defence that new tlds are "proof of concept". What a proof of
concept dot info has turned out to be! Do ICANN and Afilias realise that they
are setting up a precedent that can cause a death blow to future tlds? But, it
is not too late. By having a standby startup registrant, you can create a system
that has in-built checks and balances. If TM/SM is genuine, domain stays with
sunrise registrant. If TM/SM is false, it goes to startup registrant. It is
as simple as that. And, that is what your goal is. Isn't it? Please don't
say that this simple programing step will cost you millions and you will loose your
competitive edge. ICANN+Afilias, please come off your ego trip. Do
the right thing while there is an opportunity. Overwhelming majority of netizens
around the world are with you. Don't fail them for the sake of handful of people/organizations
who have abused and hijacked the whole system. Amar
