If we had to have a Sunrise period then it should have been for company name trademarks only, not generic words.  For example Coca-Cola, Ford etc are OK but names of towns and countries etc. are not.  Since they have messed it up what could be possible is to assign each trademark authority in each country to verify the trademark information via automated means.  Trademarks with no country details would be thrown away and by giving each country it's own batch you are dividing the work.  Each trademark authority could then throw away non-existent trademark numbers and verify the rest.

This is the biggest internet event since dot com.  Surely the authorities can work together on this and sort the problem out!  Where there's a will there's a way.
