The cloak and dagger tactics
of Afilias et. al. are within the scope of ICANN's authority, and were probably authorized
by them in some dark room at one of those overseas ICANN policy meetings. A bulk
email to all the newspapers and representatives will raise awareness: ICANN wants
to keep things quiet so the general public doesnt know whats going on. Government/corporate
conspiracy? Probably, judging by the historical relationship of politicians and corporations.
