I think that Afilias should also officially formulate their position on .info registrars
that have closed lists (i.e. didn't invite the public at large to pre-register for
Landrush). Assuming that the Sunrise fiasco is going to get addressed, this new
problem will become impossible to solve after the fact. Here is a first draft proposal: For
Landrush to be considered a bona-fide and equitable process, only registrars
that offered pre-registration services to the public at large should be permitted
to participate (as of xxxxx date). ...This should take care of registrars who got
onto the bandwagon for the sole purpose of scooping for their own purposes...There
are tens of legal frameworks and precedents around to back this type of rule (the
securities industry and stock exchanges being the most developed).
