Quite a few of them don't have a clearly defined pre-registration process (Signature
domains for instance). I think our intention here is to formulate general positions
as to what we perceive as a fair Landrush process. We then have to get some sort
of an oficial Afilias position on these concerns.
Right now, it's
a very messy situation because today you don't know if a registrar shows a name as
being taken because it has been reserved on their queues or because a whois search
is showing it as being taken? In the latter case if Afilias does acknowledge the
current solution (see domebase.com) then those registrars will have an almost empty
list.
Dotster.com is one of those that seem to be caught in limbo, they had a
highest-bidder-makes-the-list type of deal, which they subsequently purged from all
names alloted during Sunrise.
It is an absolute mess and yet through it all, Afilias
has chosen to maintain absolute silence!!!!
