"It's in our interest to make sure that dot-info sites go to legitimate trademark
holders," said Roland LaPlante, Afilias' chief marketing officer, who described the
decision as a way to protect dot-info's reputation on the eve of its planned launch
in mid-September."http://www.wired.com/news/business/0,1367,46071,00.html
Why
then did they not think of this - during the very long period since concept.
Do
you all really believe this bull*?
Purely my own logical opinion, of course; they
got what they wanted - maximum profit from sunrise period.
Obviously, dot-info's
reputation is what it deserves to be - a load of crap.
From article; "After Dec.
26, Afilias itself plans to challenge suspicious-looking trademark claims through
WIPO."
Why wait that long?
They could throw them out now - without going to WIPO.
Many
are obvious frauds.
Generic words should be dismissed anyway - they have to be
disclaimed under trademark law.
