With the aforementioned proposal, trademarks and servicemarks would be SLD's within CC-TLD's. However, Garry Anderson and some others have suggested that trademarks be a G-TLD.  This would still involve ICANN, but might avoid the occurance of conflicts of interest that some countries [like Tuvalu with .tv] have exhibited to date.
